The Smart Dock and AvoidingThe Twilight Zone

"You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. Your next stop...the Twilight Zone."

—Rod Serling

The Twilight Zone was a science fiction television series that ran from 1959-1964.  The series was the brainchild of Rod Serling.  Each episode took seemingly ordinary people or circumstances and added a twist that was the essence of the Twilight Zone.  When you go back and look at the episodes whether on Youtube or on old reruns you will often find some of the biggest stars of the day performing on this show.

Episode 8 - Time Enough at Last- Original Airdate: November 20, 1959

In this Episode Burgess Meredith plays an avid reader who wishes for less distractions from his books. His wish is granted in the form of a hydrogen bomb that leaves just him and a whole lot of books.  He is elated to have all the time in world without distraction and an unlimited supply of books.  His joy is turned to despair when he accidently breaks his glasses.

For those of you unfamiliar with this episode, here is a link to the critical scene, where Meredith's character is surrounded by an abundace of books, but can't do anything with it because he does not have the one thing he needs his glasses.
